What is Lower Back Pain?
Low back pain, is pain located below the ribs and can travel as low as the tail bone. Almost everyone has low back pain at some point in life. Low back pain may range from a dull ache to a stabbing or shooting sensation down the legs.
Low back pain can originate for sprain/strain of the spine, disc herniation, bone slippage, nerve irritation, ligament injury or muscular injury.
The pain may make it hard to move, sit for longer periods or stand up straight. Low back pain may be caused from an acute injury such as lifting, pulling or twisting with the spine, or, it may develop over time and progressively get worse. If left untreated, low back pain will likely get worse over time, making recovery more difficult.
